About the process
Construction
Many clients visit the workshop to view floats in progress in order to gain an understanding of the construction methods and ideas and concepts for their own project. Fortunately, with many of our floats at competitions around the nation, those clients who cannot visit the workshop are able to see our product 'in action'.
Ideas are then transformed into working plans for approval before construction commences.
The main subframe and framework are constructed of supergal or duragal steel,
with strict welding guidelines in place to ensure a strong and durable structure.
The floats are clad with aluminium and Colorbond sheeting. These materials are bonded to the main steel structure with Sika products helping to eliminate long term corrosion and allowing flexibility of the body.
On completion of the body externally the floats are then sent to our auto refinishers.
Finishing touches
Our floats are painted in a large automotive paint booth with ‘Two-Pack PPG’ paints. This
results in a truly impressive finish. Many floats have amazing metallic and multicolour finishes making every one an individual.
The last stage is the fitout, and there are many levels – ranging from basic fitouts right throughout to the ultra luxurious, all built to the highest quality. It is becoming more and more common these days for the fitting of items such as self-levelling systems, satellite dishes, generators, solar and deep cycle battery systems, living area extensions and BBQs...
